A Vietnam Investor Visa is also known as a DT Visa. It has a validity of 12 months and can be extended up to 5 years. Foreigners use a DT visa for business expansion or investment in Vietnam.
There are two ways for you to obtain a DT visa in Vietnam. One is to get your investor visa in Vietnam and another option is to apply for it in a foreign country.
Below are the details on how you can do it.
If you are physically in Vietnam, you can proceed with getting your DT visa in the country with the following steps:
a. Get ready all required documents for visa application:
b. Submit your application along with the required documents to Vietnam’s Immigration Department Office of the city (or the closest city) where your company is based.
c. The authority will issue a Vietnam investor visa to you within 5 business days. The visa will be stamped on your passport.
If you are not in Vietnam but your home country, you can choose to obtain your investor visa outside Vietnam.
This option can be divided into two sub-options:
Get your investor visa at the Vietnam Embassy or Consulate
a. Prepare the required dossier for your investor visa application:
b. Submit your application along with the required documents and visa fee payment to Vietnam’s embassy or consulate in your home country.
c. Once your documents are verified to be complete and valid, you will receive an appointment letter to pick up your investor visa. You can also choose to have your investor visa posted to you by mail.
d. The embassy and consulate will get your investor visa ready in 5 to 7 business days.
Get your investor visa upon arrival in Vietnam
This is only applicable when you arrive in Vietnam by air and receive your visa stamp at Vietnam’s international airport.
Both you and your sponsor have to follow the required procedure:
a. Your sponsor or visa agent in Vietnam needs to prepare all required documents for the application of your Vietnam investor visa:
b. Submit the application form along with the required documents.
c. Once your documents are verified to be complete and valid, your sponsor or visa agent will receive an appointment letter to pick up your approval letter.
d. Your sponsor or visa agent needs to scan the approval letter and send it to you by email. You must print this approval letter out.
e. Download the investor visa application form that is available online. Then, fill out and print out the completed form.
f. Once you have arrived at Vietnam’s international airport, present two of your passport photos, approval letter, and application form to the immigration.
g. You will get your VOA or landing visa stamped on your passport.
